Well, hello there, Nashville. I’ve moved up to my favorite city for the summer and I don’t think I’ll ever be leaving (don’t tell that to my remaining semester of college awaiting me in August…) if I have anything to say about it. An internship in fashion, a darling house, about 12 good coffee shops in a five mile radius of me, good live tunes galore, and lots of new places to visit — I’m the happiest of gals. My dear friend came to visit me last weekend at she snapped these photos on our way to sushi. Since I’m working in fashion and in this new city of mine, here’s my first ever outfit post. Insert teeth-gritting emoji. Ah! So, I got this great little jumper at a store in East Nashville, and paired it with my favorite vintage jewels and bag. Add some killer sturdy wedges, and voila. It paired really nicely with the beautiful Marathon area. Those bricks combined with the industrial vibe make me swoon. It’s one of my favorite little streets here, and the coffee shop has a salted caramel + whiskey latte that’ll make ya dance. Cheers, Nashville. It’s going to be a grand summer; I can feel it.

after quite the polar winter, we’re beginning to get a taste of that elusive spring sunshine down here in the South. today it was 75 degrees + sunny and oh so beautiful; to say I am thankful is an understatement, as my bones and soul really needed that warmth. I’ll be clinging onto this little piece of spring for the rest of this week, as I’m heading up to Boston for my Spring Break trip. Temps are going to be pretty low and layers galore will be necessary. my number one item I’ll be packing is my beloved oxblood beanie (from target; previously mentioned here), so I’ve been combing the internets for some inspiration to make sure that, even when I’m freezing, I’ll be lookin’ fly for all those Harvard boys. red/oxblood/maroon (or crimson if we’re still talking Harvard…)  has become my go to color pop for my otherwise neutral outfits as of late – it’s the perfect touch to bring together any look! what’s your go to color choice to up the anti in your otherwise routine ensembles?

black friday
this is as close as I’ll get to participating in the black friday hoopla. except my current version is black yoga pants and a black sweater. claaaassy. if you are one of the mad hatters who braved the cold and the crowds for the sales, kudos to you. however, I feel that I’m the real winner here because madewell has 25% off everything online and free shipping . so that’s really all there is. and guess what, i’m totally buying something black. hope your thanksgiving was relaxing and filled with time with those you love; mine certainly was. we have so much to be grateful for every single moment of every day, so it’s always extra sweet to take a day to really acknowledge and appreciate that fact (over sweet potatoes, duh). but it’s also a great reminder to take a moment every day and remember those things, too. so i’ll be here, in all black, being thankful, buying madewell. and it’s officially officially the christmas season. rejoice – bring out the twinkle lights and the starbucks holiday cups and the cheesy NSYNC christmas tunes! happy weekend!

Autumn and winter are my favorite seasons, for many reasons. I love when the changing leaves light the trees afire. It often seems as if a pumpkin spice latte is just another of my appendages.  Christmas lights, thick socks, a bonfire, time with family: I could go on for days. So naturally, my favorite way to dress is bundled up; army jackets, scarves and hats, boots and more boots — these things are my jam.  My happy place. One of my most beloved pieces is my J Crew army jacket I got a few years back. I wear it basically every day; like, people know me as the “green jacket girl.” I’m pretty content with mine, but I wouldn’t mine a warmer version with a hood and some fur on the colder days. Here are some great options I’ve found around online shopping (instead of doing homework, duh), no matter your budget. Actually, the $60 version from the slightly sketchy online store found via Pinterest might be my favorite. And happy day, both the AE and Madewell versions are on sale if they suit your fancy!

now that there’s finally a bit of chill in the air, it’s time to bring out the beanies. I’m all about these   featuring a little pom pom, they’re warm, current, cool and fun. it’s the closet I’ll ever get to being a cheerleader, aside from my brief stint in junior high. if you’re a little cautious stick with the basic black. go for the fur if you’re feelin’ a little sassy, and the patterned if you’re bold. I’ll take all three.

here’s to a productive and happy monday. after a wonderful weekend trip to my favorite city, it’s quite miraculous that I didn’t hole up in bed all day with post-Nashville blues. but, somehow (read: coffee) I managed and here we are! regardless of your level of productivity (or lack thereof), here’s a little message (via pinterest, duh) to me and you and everyone on this monday. coming up this week on the blog: some pretty interiors, autumn style inspiration (since it’s f i n a l l y getting colder here), and maybe a playlist of good tunes thrown in, if I’m feeling really sassy. which if I channel this lady, I definitely will be.

fall break

Untitled #7
Today is the happiest of days as fall break has arrived! I’m so lucky to attend a school that gives us an extra long weekend for the sake of some autumn relaxation. I’m roadtripping to the mountains of Tennessee with some of my favorite friends for lots of girl time, hiking, s’more making, and general soaking up of this glorious season. We plan to go to the pumpkin patch, shop downtown, and drink too many pumpkin spice lattes. I’ll be wearing sweaters galore, and adding this great little target hat to everything: 6 bucks and target does it again!. The Head and the Heart’s new album will be on steady rotation – I’ve been listening to it for over a week and have yet to tire of it (“Gone” is my current favorite track). Hoping even if you aren’t on a break this week/weekend that you relax and fit in some of your favorite autumn activities!

so it’s Monday. and I love Madewell. so there we go? season after season, Madewell’s classics with a fresh twist are a hit; they make me feel all of the good happy fashion feelings. this season is no exception. here are some of my current favorites pieced together for a look that’s perfectly Mondayish. I’m all about some flannel caps these days (got a great, less expensive alternative at Target!), and now that the weather’s finally fit for sweaters around these parts, this grey number paired with black skinnies and killer boots is perfect for all of the Monday activities. and THAT bag. oh my. a cure for the Mondays, that’s what it is. not that I can afford any of this. broke college gals can dream, huh? and make Christmas lists. oh, we can make Christmas lists. Dear Santa, gimme all the Madewell! wishing you a happy week + lots of Madewell dreams yourselves.

loving lately: leather + converse

style
leather + converse
Lately I’ve been gravitating to looks such as these, featuring a little leather and some good ole sneaks. something about the mix of shiny leather and grungy Converse is hitting the mark for me these days. on the note of leather, I have a bone to pick. All around the fashion world lately there are these “vegan” leather jackets. Like yay for faux leather, I’m all about it. But calling that fancy 300 dolla jacket “vegan” does not make it superior to that fake leather one from Target you secretly love. Just sayin’. Anywho, I’m in the market for a new fake/faux/vegan/whatever leather piece to wear with my trusty Chucks, perhaps some skinnies or a skirt, as pictured above. Madewell has some impressive pieces right now, of course. As far as Converse go, personally, I’m partial to my white low-top pair, but gray and black and the rest of the rainbow are pretty great too.

So, I love Pinterest. A lot.  In short, I think it’s a great place to catalog things you love and are interested in. And on top of that, I think it’s a wonderful source of inspiration in so many areas. Recently, I was perusing through my style board and gravitated toward these photos, both featuring lovely cyclin’ ladies in floral, one with stripes + one in a fun tee. Drawing from these looks, I put together this little piece of outfit inspiration. Enjoy! Oh, and free to follow along with my pins if you’d like!
